Sentinel Advisory Pte Ltd was established in Singapore in 2026 by Matheson Croyston after 34 years working at the technical and commercial frontier of complex infrastructure and renewable energy projects across Asia-Pacific, Central Asia, frontier and emerging markets.

Sentinel is built around a single standard of judgement — the kind that holds at the C-suite, the boardroom, and the arbitral tribunal.

It is not a consultancy that also does expert witness work.

It is not an expert witness practice that also does some advisory.

It is a firm with two formally separated, institutionally independent disciplines — Advisory and Disputes — held together by one master brand, one founding principal, and one documented governance framework.

The firm's commercial positioning is intentional and narrow: complex infrastructure and renewable energy projects in Asia-Pacific, Central Asia, and frontier / emerging markets where advisory and dispute mandates require extensive direct and in-country experience at the relevant scale.

These are not markets Sentinel covers from a distance. These are markets where Sentinel has delivered projects.

FOUNDER & MANAGING DIRECTOR

Matheson Croyston

True expert credibility grounded in 34+ years of international development and construction experience. More than 29 years of contracts, commercial and programming experience. More than 19 years of direct international EPC project delivery. Both sides of the contract, and the full project lifecycle from feasibility to operations.
The depth and specificity of this record is Sentinel's primary commercial credential, supported by an extensive network.
Matheson Croyston's career spans the full complexity of infrastructure and renewable energy project delivery across Australia, Mongolia, Indonesia, and Vietnam — markets ranging from mature regulatory environments to frontier / emerging jurisdictions where EPC delivery demands a level of direct experience that no amount of secondary analysis can replicate.
He has managed EPC contracts as an EPC contractor, as a developer and project principal and as an owner's representative — the precise multi sided perspective that instructing clients need and value.
The combination of a Master of Engineering Management and a Master of Business Law is unusual in the APAC construction advisory market. It produces a principal who is legally literate on construction contract and dispute law, commercially credentialled in project and programme management, and technically qualified through extensive industry experience.

GOVERNANCE & CONFLICT OF INTEREST

Independence. Documented. Applied Without Exception

COI
The following are applied without exception to every Sentinel engagement.
01

Independence Statement  ·  A fully independent practice.

Sentinel operates as a fully independent advisory and expert witness practice. Not affiliated with any EPC contractor, developer, lender, or law firm.

The Founder holds no equity interest in any project or entity on which Sentinel advises.

Independence is a structural fact of the firm — not a representation, not a policy, not a recitation in a report. It is the commercial foundation on which both the Advisory and Disputes practices are built.
02

Conflict of Interest Process  ·  Formal conflict check before any instruction.

Where a conflict cannot be cleanly resolved, the instruction is declined. Conflict-check turnaround is typically two business days. Clearance is provided in writing and forms part of the engagement record.
03

SSN Phase Separation  ·  Structural separation between advisory and expert work.

Structure or Secure advisory on a matter precludes Founder appointment as Expert on the same matter.

Where Navigate (delivery) advisory has been provided, a separate Sentinel Expert practitioner is engaged with complete personnel, file, and information separation.

This is the most consequential governance rule at Sentinel. Applied without exception, documented in the engagement letter, and enforced at instruction acceptance.
04

Professional Indemnity  ·  PI insurance maintained continuously.

Professional Indemnity insurance is maintained continuously. Cover details and the current schedule of insurance are available on request. The PI schedule is reviewed annually against Sentinel's engagement profile and updated as required.
05

Engagement Basis  ·  Standard engagement letter — privileged terms for counsel.

All instructions are accepted on the basis of Sentinel's standard engagement letter. A copy is available on request.

Instructions from counsel are accepted on standard terms for privileged expert engagement.

Sentinel does not accept success-fee, contingency, or result-dependent arrangements on expert witness instructions.
06

IBA Rules & SIAC 2025  ·  Duty to the tribunal or court.

Expert work is conducted in compliance with the IBA Rules on the Taking of Evidence in International Arbitration, SIAC Arbitration Rules 2025, and the specifically relevant jurisdictional requirements of the seat.

The expert's duty is to the tribunal or court — not to the instructing party. This duty is acknowledged at the head of every expert report and overrides any inconsistent instruction received from counsel or the client.
